In January 2023, Air France announced the resumption of a weekly flight to Brazil for the capital of Para, Belém. A revival of this Brazilian destination that Guyanese travelers were missing. Implemented under conditions of profitability, this service has truly served its purpose. Two years later, an enlargement took place despite a widely contested economic context of high cost of living.
As a reminder, the Brazil destination was previously operated by two companies. The company Surinam Airways which, faced with economic difficulties, stopped serving Guyana in 2018. The Brazilian company Azul served the Belém and Fortaleza line at very competitive rates. It stopped its marketing with Guyana in 2020 at the time of the covid health crisis.
