Last December, the Qualistat polling institute published a study on the morale of business leaders in Guadeloupe. Whatever the size, the sector of activity, or the location, the morale of our entrepreneurs is at half mast. More than 52% say they are worried about the future of their business and even more so regarding the economic climate in the region.
The Qualistat study covers 317 companies representative of our economic fabric. Companies of different sizes but which necessarily have more than 70% consist of fewer than 10 employees. An identical photograph of our economic fabric which highlights all sectors of activity, from industry to services including agriculture, commerce and even construction.
No matter the activity, our business leaders do not have morale. HAS 52%they do not say they are confident about the future of their company and 81%they are worried about the degraded economic fabric in Guadeloupe. By sector of activity, it is in construction and public works that our entrepreneurs are the most depressed. HAS 86%, they fear the excitement of the Guadeloupean market.
These business leaders look with little confidence at the future of their sector of activity and necessarily the hiring prospects in the months to come remain weak. Less than 25% companies plan to recruit. In the service sector elsewhere 70% of these companies have given up on hiring in the coming months.
-On the investment side, it’s the same uncertainty. Business leaders remain cautious. More than 58% of them have abandoned their investment projects in view of the economic situation. Less hiring and even less investment, business leaders in Guadeloupe are looking at the future with concern. A concern according to this survey, relating to the state of a weakened local economic fabric.
