-“It didn’t smell good”
« The biggest regret of my career? For having been a little too impatient, impulsive too. I regret having left Bordeaux in these conditions. But I found that the club lacked ambition. We had just lost Pauleta, Smertine, Feindouno… It didn't smell good. I was seduced by OM but I regret having disappointed the Bordeaux supporters by making this choice “, noted Eduardo Costawho will even end up leaving theABOUT only a year after its signing, in 2005.
Pauleta, Dugarry… Costa had a blast in Bordeaux
A choice all the more regrettable in his eyes as he was delighted with the squad in which he had been able to play Bordeaux : « Pauleta or Christophe Dugarry were very talented. But my alter ego was Alexei Smertine. It's strange because he's Russian and I'm Brazilian, but we got along perfectly. No need to talk. We found ourselves with our eyes closed and we had the same vision of the game, we liked to press the opponent, to advance. I was one lung, he was the other. It's like we were born from the same mother, but in two different countries (laughs) », continues Eduardo Costa.
