Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye attended, this Monday, the opening of the Conference of Public Administrators and Managers at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center (CICAD) in Diamniadio. He, on this occasion, indicated that the findings are alarming after 9 months of exercising power. According to him, his government faces a constrained State, whose budgetary and financial room for maneuver is almost non-existent.
“A Republican administration, certainly, but lacking in coherence and stuck in outdated patterns even as our socio-economic realities are rapidly evolving, marked in particular by digital transformation and the rise of Artificial Intelligence,” he suggested.
President Diomaye Faye notes a “hypertrophied parapublic sector, often duplicating the budget-intensive central administration, and whose contribution to the State dividend remains too low. Complex and expensive public services, which limit the effectiveness of public policies.”
He therefore believes that it is “imperative to overhaul our administration to make it more modern, closer to citizens and more effective in its missions”.
