Friday, a 75-year-old man from Var died after a fall while skiing with friends in the resort of Auris-en-Oisans, in Isère, reports France 3 Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
According to media information, the victim lost control of his skis and fell on a red slope. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services – the CRS Alpes de l'Isère having deployed its Dragon 38-1 helicopter – and attempts at resuscitation, the skier was declared dead on the spot.
As the local television channel points out, the rescuers, called upon numerous times this weekend, are calling for the greatest vigilance on the ski slopes in the coming days, particularly due to the wind, the cold and the absence further snowfall which makes conditions more difficult and dangerous.
