“Welt” advises Germans who want to emigrate to Switzerland

Switzerland is the first destination for German emigrants. The latter also form the 2nd largest foreign population in our country behind the Italians, with some 326,000 nationals. And there could be more of them if they follow the renowned German newspaper “Welt”. The media devoted a long article to our country this weekend under the title “Emigrate to Switzerland? Who is in demand and what salaries await you.”

With an average annual salary of 78,000 francs gross, the income of full-time employees in Switzerland is statistically 60% higher than that of our German neighbors, praises the newspaper. “Productivity in Switzerland is the highest of all OECD countries due to the high level of training and good qualifications,” he continues.

He even advises where to settle down to earn more. “The best salaries are paid in economic centers. Many specialized international companies are located around Lake Zurich,” we read. Or: “Lucerne has a booming technology sector with many start-ups. Geneva is considered a global diplomatic center with the European headquarters of the United Nations and the Red Cross.

For the German newspaper, Switzerland also has every interest in welcoming foreigners. “As Switzerland cannot cover its high needs for specialized labor with its workers, it is dependent on skilled immigration. One in three companies is faced with a staff shortage, or even one in two in the largest ones,” writes the newspaper. The salary must therefore be “attractive”. “Welt” also specifies that the health sector, construction and the electrical industry are the most likely to hire foreigners. But concludes by recalling that Switzerland was “relatively unattractive” for migrants.
