Clermont, … In which cities do young Nièvre high school graduates go to study?

In 2022, according to INSEE, the employment zone, which extends over a large southwest quarter of the department, had 905 training places available, excluding completely remote training, for 965 new high school graduates listed on this employment area. According to figures from Parcoursup, 71% of new high school graduates residing in this area left when they entered higher education.

For the Cosne-sur-Loire area, there were, again according to 2022 data, 80 training places for 334 new high school graduates in this employment area. That is 88% fewer training places than new high school graduates residing there. This explains the high departure rate when young people wish to continue in higher education: 98.6%. For this area, establishments are few in number and mainly bring together BTS. Out of 214 young graduates who took their baccalaureate in the south-west of the department, 211 left. 119 of them even left Burgundy-Franche-Comté, which is quite logical given the proximity of the border.
