The Optic 2000 store is managed in Yssingeaux by Christophe Sieczkowski, who has been providing ophthalmological teleconsultations for around a year. It is intended for audiences aged 16 to 75. But how does it work in practice?
First measurements, then a video interview with an orthoptist and then an ophthalmologist
After making an appointment for a consultation lasting about an hour, we went to the store, at 30-32, rue des Fossés. There, the optician invites us to enter a closed cabin “for confidentiality” and equipped with all the necessary equipment. The optician takes the eye pressure, then the device, called an autorefractometer, determines the vision correction.
After which, we continue the visit by inserting our vital card via the Medadom terminal, a teleconsultation service which connects professionals and patients for any visit, medical, optical, etc.
Then begins the video session with an orthoptist, who deepens the examination carried out with the autorefractometer and checks the correction, if necessary. This specifies: “You must not have any known pathologies, in particular glaucoma, eye pressure or even diabetes. »
Finally, we are put in contact, still by video, with an ophthalmologist, who questions us about our vision problems, our current correction, etc. To conclude, he drafts a suitable final order.
The final step is to contact the optician to purchase equipment. “The customer has complete freedom to make their equipment at home or not,” explains Christophe Sieczkowski.
-How much does it cost?
The costs of consultation with the ophthalmologist are covered up to 21 euros, 9 euros remaining the responsibility of the patient who can be reimbursed by their complementary mutual insurance if they have one. The correction costs amount to 60 euros: the store makes a discount of 40 euros if the customer equips himself on site, i.e. a cost of 20 euros remains to be borne.
“It is important to note that teleconsultation does not always replace a consultation in person, especially for more in-depth examinations or specific treatments. Patients should always refer to a professional for advice tailored to their situation,” says Christophe Sieczkowski.
For a consultation at Optic 2000, the customer can make an appointment by telephone at 04.71.59.19.89, directly at the store or on Doctolib.
