The MJC gymnasium was full this Saturday, January 18, on the occasion of the wishes of the city mayor Alain Sutra. In fact, several hundred people gathered to attend this event, which marks the start of a new year of work for the municipal team. After denouncing a darkened political context, “which upsets certainties and intensifies challenges”, Alain Sutra took stock of the past year, based on the production of a documentary film screened for the occasion, before to address projects and prospects for 2025.
Throughout the evening, advisors and deputies took turns presenting the major achievements of the past year. Among these: the creation and inauguration of a new collective catering facility, road works, the restructuring of the social center, the establishment of “Tarascon services”, the renovation of Notre-Dame de Sabart, as well as the pursuit of an ambitious social policy. “A policy which allows the most deprived to live decently”, underlined Nadège Sutra, elected official in charge of educational policies, who recalled the importance of equitable access to the school canteen: “We distribute 170 meals every day. For 35% of students, this meal is free; for 38%, it costs €0.50; for 15%, €1, and for 12%, €1.50.”
The signing of the sale of the Jules-Rousse premises
Centered on “inclusion and solidarity”, another flagship project for 2025 is about to see the light of day, as Alain Sutra announced: “I am preparing to sign the sale of the current premises of Jules-Rousse with Christine Téqui, president of the departmental council, whom I thank With an investment of 6 million euros, CD09 will breathe new life into this establishment by creating an intergenerational structure and a place of respite.
“Tarascon is moving forward, Tarascon is modernizing, Tarascon is proud of its dynamism, Tarascon invites us to preserve, with caution of course, but with confidence,” assured the first councilor, listing the projects for 2025. Renovation of heritage, beautification, development green energies, security work, village stop label, the list is ambitious, including the birth of “Tarascon santé”. “Even if this does not fall within our competence, we have taken up the health issue. In the coming days, in the former premises of the social center “Tarascon santé” will be born. Negotiations are underway and we hope very soon to welcome a new general practitioner.
