A police officer opens fire on a motorist who refuses to comply

A driver allegedly drove into a BAC officer in the 7th arrondissement, refusing to comply when the police ordered him to stop. A colleague of the officer opened fire. The suspect is on the run.

A police officer opened fire on a car in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon after the driver allegedly drove into one of his colleagues from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC), in what the police described as a refusal to comply, on the night of Saturday August 31 to Sunday September 1, BFM Lyon learned, confirming information from Actu17.

BAC patrol officers spotted the vehicle shortly after 2 a.m. and noted several traffic violations, including running a red light. Officers then activated their flashing lights and sirens to check the driver, but he refused to stop.

Investigation opened

The officers then chased the suspect until he was stuck at a red light behind other vehicles. They then got out of their car on foot to try to intercept him. But while a police officer was in front of his vehicle, the driver accelerated again and managed to flee. A colleague of the officer then opened fire on the vehicle.

The police officer, who managed to dodge the speeding vehicle, was not injured. The driver is still on the run this Sunday. An investigation has been opened and entrusted to the judicial police.
