Ct was predictable, if not certain: the non-censorship of the government by the socialists on Thursday caused the break with LFI. And this one is clear. This Sunday, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, guest of the Grand Jury on RTL, was clear: “The Socialist Party is no longer a partner. » In his eyes therefore, the renegotiation of the pension reform entrusted to the social partners by François Bayrou, following his discussions with the PS, does not count. No more than the renunciation of the elimination of 4,000 positions in education, the creation of 2,000 educational assistant positions for students with disabilities, or the addition of a billion euros for the hospital. However, it is these concessions which convinced the PS not to vote for censure, pending the budget test.
However, it is difficult not to read his counterattack as a knee-jerk reaction to this empowerment of the socialists. The Insoumis assume it: the PS betrayed the NFP, this alliance signed in the wake of the dissolution and which also welcomes ecologists and communists.
Distrust
However, if the NFP showed, last July, all its electoral relevance, by sending 192 deputies to the Assembly, it is not a haven of peace or harmony. In this, he is the worthy heir of Nupes, which already brought together LFI, environmentalists, the PS and the communists. From the moment it appeared, mistrust dominated their relationships. Barely had she settled into the Assembly when Jean-Luc Mélenchon tried to impose a single group to absorb his allies. The string was thick and everyone refused.
“We are no less the NFP than him”

We must also remember the 2024 European campaign where everyone went their own way, exposing their disagreements in broad daylight. The ecologists, socialists and communists even refused the outstretched hand of the Insoumis and their proposal to entrust them with the head of a single list.
“Sterile ranting”
Proof of the intensity of resentment at work, on Sunday, Jean-Luc Mélenchon assured his ex-socialist ally that: “There will be disruptive left-wing candidates in all constituencies. » If there is a new dissolution, the PS candidates, especially those who did not vote for censure, will not be spared. On the socialist side, however, we look at the situation with “serenity”: “Mélenchon has wanted the end of the NFP for a long time. He is only concerned about the presidential election and his own destiny, the rest does not matter to him,” reacted this Sunday evening to “Sud Ouest”, a PS executive.
“In this story,” he continued, “we put ourselves at the service of the French to spare them as much suffering as possible. » And to reply to Jean-Luc Mélenchon: “We are no less the NFP than him, he has been threatening everyone with excommunication for weeks. I want to believe that we will all take up other fights on the left that are more useful than these sterile rantings. We thought the Nupes was dead, there was the NFP, tomorrow is another day…” Another day without the Insoumis.
