Sweet Cream brand pastries are being recalled because they are believed to be the cause of an outbreak of salmonellosis, the Public Health Agency of Canada said.

In the country, 61 cases of salmonellosis have been recorded, including 33 in Quebec, 21 in Ontario, four in British Columbia and two in Alberta. A total of 17 people were hospitalized as a result. The people who fell ill were aged between 3 and 88, the agency said, adding that 61% of them were women.
The recall notice affects four-kilo boxes of Sweet Cream mini pastries and one-kilogram trays, with an expiration date between June 17, 2025 and November 15, 2025 inclusive. These mini pastries are distributed in several places, such as bakeries, restaurants, hotels, hospitals and residences for the elderly.
“People became ill from late September 2024 to mid-December 2024,” the public health agency wrote. Many sick people reported eating mini pastries at catered events or other establishments where the recalled product was served. »
-Individuals or distributors in possession of these products are asked to throw them away or return them to the supplier.
Salmonellosis is a foodborne bacterial disease. People who have it can spread it to other people several days or weeks after being infected, even if they don’t have symptoms.
Affected, it is however possible to feel fever, nausea, even going as far as vomiting and diarrhea. Once reached, you should avoid preparing food for others.
