The limited traffic zone (ZTL) in Paris-Centre (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th arrondissements) has become one of the key topics of discussion since its establishment in November 2024. However, the ambition to reduce traffic automobile transit in this sector is far from being a new fad of the municipality. The ZTL is also “not an end in itself”, insists the mayor of Paris-Centre, Ariel Weil (PS).
On the contrary, according to him, it would not work without its counterpart, the “new traffic plan” put in place in February 2023 in the streets of the Marais (IIIe-IVe). This last device would even be the “most effective” tool to meet the objectives of the municipality: fewer vehicles for less pollution and less noise and a smoother flow of traffic for those who continue to drive there, particularly buses. .
