Ppresented as the poster child of the day in NM2, with a second place at stake, the derby between ESMS and ADB kept all its promises. It takes two to dance tango and the two teams offered a thrilling and pleasant show to the public, who came in large numbers to Montgaillard. In this epic duel, it was Arnold Bouazza's team which had the last word (93-80). Opposite, the Adébistes, led by an incandescent Sébastien Dulouat and author of 37 points, held off their evening rival for a long time and even thought of winning the game. The latter fall to 3rd place, one point behind Élan (2nd) and three behind the Marmandais leader.
The first quarter was clearly to the advantage of the visitors. If Lesca plants the first banderilla at 2 points, coach Oyhanondo's players thanks to Mansaré and S. Dulouat go in front (5-11). Weighed down by the mistakes, the approximations and the rapid transitions of the Candressois, the white and green – under the blows of Carne and S. Dulouat – cannot find the solution and ends this act with 9 points behind (15-24) .
A long-awaited victory
The second quarter gives a glimpse of a glimmer of hope for the ESMS which, despite 16 free throws, returns to the game thanks to a defensive reorganization. In the wake of Ditu Mona and the entrants Bats and Février, the Chalossais take the lead (31-30). The gap is tiny, but neither team gives in and only a long-distance shot from Lesca allows ESMS to take the lead (49-45).
-Upon returning from the locker room, the mano a mano continues. Faced with domestically dominant and collectively solid premises, the Adébistes, short of ideas, rely on the science of Carne and an unplayable S. Dulouat to preserve their chances of winning (69- 66). The visitors' luck ran out, and it was Hillotte's teammates who took off in the last quarter. Solid defensively, lively offensively, like February's 3 points at the end of the possession which leaves no hope for the ADB: the ESMS completes its success with a final basket from N'doye (93-80).
Reactions
Arnold Bouazza (ESMS coach): “Given the stakes, we knew it would be a match with twists and turns. In the first half, we suffered from the start, with mistakes very early which put us in the penalty box and baskets given away too easily. It took us a while to find the right defensive carburetion. But once we found it, we were more realistic offensively. In the second half, even though Sébastien Dulouat was walking on water, we had much more interesting defensive sequences. »
Jean-Baptiste Oyhanondo (ADB coach): “It was a great NM2 match, with a lot of intensity between two teams who played with their weapons. We do not have to be ashamed of this defeat, because we are right. We stuck to our playing principles. Afterwards, they found the solutions. We decreased in intensity in the second quarter while we were leading by 9 points. Against a team focused on the offensive, it pays off in cash. We must congratulate this ESMS team who knew how to hurt us inside and show skill. »
