The Outdoormix Winter Festival is three days of festivities and sports which continue on Sunday January 19, 2025. Snow kayaking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking on snow, free style, a village offering experiences to live, concerts, the festival-goers held the cut ! This year, for the 6th edition, cross-country skiing made its debut in the festival, a discipline which immediately found its place!
“Find the right pressure depending on the hardness of the snow”
Two-wheel enthusiasts haven't missed a beat of mountain biking on snow, not so simple events, whether border or mass start! “In the border, it's quite fast, the snow is rather hard, but with pitfalls,” says Kévin Mayeur, mountain biker and snow mountain bike enthusiast. You don't have to use too many angles, keep enough speed, don't be too rough on the brakes, you quickly lose grip. I opted for mud tires which work very well, the rubber is very soft. You just have to find the right pressure depending on the hardness of the snow. » But before the mountain bikers, it was the kayaks who had taken over the same border in the morning. No wax allowed, but machines made to float, not slide, so control was sometimes uncertain… Except for Tom Dollé who won the event, ahead of Nils Biermans and Nicolas Chassing.
“Skateboarding is urban, very family-friendly, friendly, with a lot of sharing”
Among the women, local Léa Grison won ahead of Morgan Vannier. On the snow front, it was also the Snow Skate that caught the eye. “It's based on skateboarding, except that to do it on snow, there's no wheel, and a resin sole with ridges to maintain direction,” explain Axel Foley and Florent Beauduin (President) of the Skate Thérapie association. It is a recent discipline, coming from Canada. On the top, it is a form of foam with nubs to maintain grip on the board and do tricks. “Yes, it’s very soapy,” admits Axel, “but it’s like everything, we fall, we get up, fall, get back up, like in life! Initiations and demonstrations delighted festival-goers. “Skateboarding is urban, very family-friendly, friendly, with a lot of sharing,” concludes Axel.
-The Handisport 05 Committee is there
In the village, the deck chairs were taken by storm, the wooden games or skill tables were used, everyone had found their place, the festival-goers moving around according to the sun and the various demonstrations. The Handisport 05 Committee was also there, offering wheelchair skiing and standing skiing, with a huge team of volunteers… “Because skiing is for everyone! »
