Shipwreck off the coast of Morocco: 21 Pakistanis rescued according to the latest official report, repatriation operations underway

The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has confirmed that 21 nationals have survived a shipwreck off the Moroccan coast. The boat, carrying 80 passengers, had left Mauritania before sinking near the port of Dakhla, in southern Morocco.

In an official statement, the ministry spokesperson specified that the Pakistani embassy in Rabat “was immediately mobilized to provide assistance to individuals affected by this tragedy.” Food, water, medicine and clothing were urgently provided.

Local authorities in Dakhla are currently providing necessary accommodation and medical care to Pakistani survivors. A mobile consulate, dispatched by the embassy, ​​is on site to supervise relief operations and ensure careful monitoring of the situation.

The ministry also indicated that the diplomatic team on site “was closely monitoring relief efforts while the Pakistani government actively collaborated with Moroccan authorities to ensure adequate assistance to affected citizens.” Steps have been taken to speed up the repatriation procedures of Pakistani nationals.

On the sidelines of this tragedy, Islamabad activated a 24-hour crisis center to coordinate efforts. A special helpline has been set up to address the concerns of passengers’ families. The survivors were transferred to a temporary camp near the site of the sinking where they are receiving humanitarian assistance. The Pakistani government, in cooperation with local Moroccan authorities, “strives to ensure their safety and well-being”a-t-on souligné.
