Geneva: Cleaning of the Seymaz: 280 kg of waste collected

Saturday morning, around sixty people responded to the call from the Seymaz Vie collective. Objective: clean the banks of the river of the same name. Some 280 kg of waste was collected, including a motor cycle frame, a weather probe, a garden table and even full gas canisters. The entire Seymaz could be covered, as well as most of its tributaries for a total of more than 15 km.

Among the participants, the organizers were able to count on a class from the Henry Dunant School of General Culture and its teacher, volunteers from the Natural History Museum of Geneva, municipal councilors from Puplinge and Meinier, as well as several residents of the communities bordering the watercourse.

At the end of the day, the volunteers proposed a recommendation to the municipalities in order to improve the cleanliness of the area: put in place biodegradable bags for dog droppings. In fact, they noticed that many empty or full bags litter rivers and roadsides.
