Early Friday afternoon, a police officer used his weapon in La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin, near Orléans (Loiret), during an intervention for a refusal to comply. The driver and his passenger were arrested and taken into police custody, indicates a source close to the case, confirming information from The Central Republic.
Around 3 p.m., a police patrol carried out a road check near a school in the town. The police tried to stop a motorist, but he refused to stop. A chase then began through the streets of the city.
Two shots
After several minutes, a roadblock was set up by the police to stop the fugitive. Despite this, the driver tried to force his way. As the driver rushed towards the police officers, one of the officers opened fire twice, aiming at the tires.
-A tire was reportedly damaged and the vehicle was stopped shortly after on rue Jean-Jacques-Rousseau, where the driver and his passenger were arrested. No injuries were reported. According to initial information, the car was without insurance or technical inspection. The two men were placed in police custody at the Orléans police station. An investigation has been opened.
