SENEGAL-FOOTBALL-CHAMPIONSHIP / Ligue 1: AJEL beats DSC at the opening of the 12th day – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, January 18 (APS) – AJEL de Rufisque signed a second victory in a row in the championship on Saturday, beating (2-1) Dakar Sacré-coeur (DSC) in the opening match on the 12th day of Ligue 1 of soccer.

The Rufisquois, victorious against the same opponents on Wednesday in the Senegal Cup, once again got the better of the SICAP academicians at the Ngalandou Diouf stadium in Rufisque.

Massaer Dieng (14th minute) and Ousseynou F Seck (79th minute) scored AJEL’s goals. Mame Sy reduced the score for DSC in the 89th minute of the match.

With this second consecutive victory, their third of the season, the Rufisquois occupy sixth place in the standings with now 16 points (+1).

Dakar Sacré-Coeur, for its part, conceded its second consecutive defeat with this setback.

The 12th day of Ligue 1 will be marked by the trip of the leader, US Gorée, to Kébémer where the islanders will face Linguère de Saint-Louis, penultimate in the standings, on Monday.

The Saint-Louisiens, who have just sacked their coach, Massamba Cissé, were eliminated on penalties on Thursday by Damels in the Senegal Cup.

The protégés of the former Lions coach, Amara Traoré, new technical manager of “Samba Linguère”, will be keen to escape this negative spiral.

In a good dynamic, with three consecutive victories, US Gorée will rather seek to consolidate its seat.

The trip to Ziguinchor of the outgoing champion, Tengueth FC, to meet Casa Sports, is one of the matches to watch for this championship day.

In difficulty since the start of the championship, Tengueth FC has just amicably separated from its coach, Sidath Sarr.

In Ziguinchor, the Rufisquois will try to rectify the situation so as not to move away from the leading pack, which is not won in front of a Casa-Sports determined to follow up with a second consecutive victory at home.
