The first drafts of “Mr Tambourine Man”, Bob Dylan’s hit, sold for more than $500,000

The two sheets of yellow paper contain three drafts of the lyrics. The third is annotated in the artist’s hand. Their value had been estimated between 400,000 and 600,000 dollars. They went for $508,000.

This pearl appeared in a lot of 60 objects put up for auction in a sale dedicated to the famous musician, 2016 Nobel Prize winner for literature, including 50 pieces from the personal collection of American music journalist Al Aronowitz. A 1968 oil painting signed by Dylan also reached its estimate of $200,000 to $300,000: it sold for $260,000.
