The coach of Racing Club de Strasbourg spoke at a press conference before the long-awaited match against Marseille this Sunday at the Vélodrome. Aware of the electric atmosphere that reigns in the Marseille stadium, he says he is enthusiastic about the idea of experiencing this kind of meeting.
“I know there is an incredible atmosphere at the Vélodrome. I do this job for this kind of match. »
The coach also highlighted the similarities between the two teams, particularly in the style of play and pressing, while expressing his respect for the Marseille coach:
“There are quite a few similarities with Marseille’s game, especially in pressing. I respect the Marseille coach enormously. We will have to be perfect to achieve a result. Very solid defensively and effective offensively. »
Looking back on the first leg where Strasbourg won, he admitted that it was a different time of the season and that both teams had progressed since:
“We weren't perfect in the first leg despite the victory. But it was a different time of the season. Since then, Marseille has progressed, particularly in automation and their structure, like us. We will have to cause them different problems. »
The coach also praised the individual performances of his players, notably Ismaël Doukouré and Mamadou Sarr:
“Since day one, Ismaël Doukouré has shown exceptional things. There is great chemistry between him and Mamadou Sarr. They both previously played in the middle, which gave them technical mastery in getting balls out from behind. »
-He did not forget to mention Dilane Bkwa, a talented young player:
“Dilane Bkwa is an exceptional player. But most of all what I like about him is his ability to make decisions in the last 30 meters. He is showing very good things at the moment. »
Despite his young age, Bkwa shows great promise and continues to progress:
“Yes he doesn't score much, but he's only 21 years old. He still has a lot to improve on, like most players at that age. »
Finally, he addressed medical concerns within the team:
“Junior Mwanga felt muscle discomfort. We also have some uncertainties in the team, but I can't say more. »
