Camille Cottin, Marlène Schiappa… Who are the personalities decorated this Saturday?

More than 400 personalities are preparing to receive the Legion of Honor this Saturday, January 18, 2025, and 119 others will be awarded the National Order of Merit. A special Notre-Dame promotion is also planned to reward around a hundred craftsmen who participated in the reconstruction of the cathedral.

A particularly dense promotion of the Legion of Honor. Actors, economists, politicians and artisans are part of the January 1 promotion of the Legion of Honor and the National Order of Merit, published this Saturday by the Grand Chancellery in the Official Journal.

Around a hundred craftsmen are among the winners of the special Notre-Dame promotion, rewarded for their work during the reconstruction of the cathedral. Among them, Philippe Jost, head of the public establishment responsible for the restoration project of the building, is distinguished “commander” within the Legion of Honor. In addition, around a hundred craftsmen, contractors, work supervisors and operations directors are named “knights”, including 33 to the Legion of Honor and 67 to the National Order of Merit, AFP reported.

1,702 distinguished people in total

In total, “1,702 people are distinguished in national orders”, which reward their commitment to serving the general interest and the influence of .

Furthermore, the actresses Camille Cottin, Mélanie Thierry as well as the singer Etienne Daho and the comedian Laurent Gerra are named “knights” of the Legion of Honor. Former ministers Rima Abdul Malak, Clément , Olivier Dussopt, Marlène Schiappa and Amélie Oudéa-Castéra are also part of this promotion. These political figures are rewarded ex post facto, because they cannot be promoted while they exercise their ministerial function.

Other personalities are named “officers” of the Legion of Honor, like Odette Bergoffen, former resistance fighter, Dominique Erignac, president of the Claude Erignac association (former prefect of Corsica assassinated in 1998), Jacques- Charles Fombonne, president of the SPA, or Bixente Lizarazu, former footballer.

The Nobel Prize winner in economics Jean Tirole and the new CEO of the Dassault group, Eric Trappier, are distinguished as “commanders”, the journalist and novelist Philippe Labro becomes “grand officer” and Jacques de Larosière, economist and honorary governor of the Bank of France , member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, is elevated to the rank of Grand Cross.

Among the personalities consecrated by the National Order of Merit are the speaker and former deportee Lili Leignel, the actress Marie-Christine Barrault, and the psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Boris Cyrulnik.
