A little more than 1,700 personalities appear in the new promotion of the Legion of Honor and of the National Order of Merit. In addition to these two expected promotions “a special promotion rewarding these national distinctions to 101 people who worked on the reconstruction of Notre-Dame de Paris”specifies the Grand Chancellery in a press release.
More than 1,700 names, stars like Camille Cottin, Etienne Daho or Laurent War, politicians… and Corsicans.
Among the knights of the Legion of Honor, we find Marlène Schiappa, originally from Sotta, in the Far South, but also Jacques Vergellati, director of the national office of veterans and war victims of South Corsica (ONaCVG), to whom the Grand Chancellery dedicates a portrait from January 21 to 29 on its networks.
Corsica is particularly praised for having developed the ONaCVG, “in order to put it at the service of memory transmission”, thanks in particular to the creation of a departmental committee aimed at collecting testimonies from soldiers deployed in external operations in 2021, or the development of the “Aux sportsyoung citizens” program in 2022, combining sport and memory.
-The personalities named “officers” of the Legion of Honor also include Dominique Erignac, widow of the former prefect of Corsica assassinated in Ajaccio in 1998 and president of the Claude-Erignac association.
