Ibrahima Thiam requests the intervention of the Caliph on the Jakarta motorcycle taxi affair

The official ceremony of the Gamou de Taïba Niassene 2025 was held this Saturday, January 18 in the religious city.

The government delegation was led by Mr. Ibrahima Thiam, Secretary General for SME Development PMI. He was accompanied by administrative authorities, notably the governor of Kaolack, Mouhamadou Moctar Watt.

In his speech, he asked the Caliph to lend a hand to the State regarding the formalization of motorcycle taxis in Jakarta. “I came on the instructions of the President of the Republic, his PM and the Minister of the Interior Jean Baptiste Tine, to represent all the members of the government at this religious event of an international dimension. We came to carry out our Ziara but also ask for prayers (…). We have all seen recently the problem of motorbike taxis in Senegal particularly in Kaolack. This is an opportunity for us to ask you in this matter and to raise awareness. their formalization. Because all the decisions that the State will take to formalize the motorcycle sector, it is simply for their safety,” said Ibrahima Thiam.

During his speech, the Caliph praised “the spirit of openness of the new authorities”, before expressing prayers for the success of their development project. “May the good Lord help you to realize your wishes for Senegal and for the Senegalese”, formulated Cheikh Mahy Ibrahima Niass.
