“Feminists encourage you to leave your husband, kill your children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become trans-queer-dyke.” This quote is not from Alex Tamécylia, fine writer of the queer cause. It is by Pat Robertson, an American televangelist known for his extremist sermons and now deceased. But Alex Tamécylia chose this diatribe as the provocative title of his essay which has just been published in Nouvel Attila, collection du Seuil, “because it’s funny, it’s true, we’re going to talk about it”.
In fact, in this work, it is a question of male violence “which is everywhere, everywhere, everywhere”, of the couple, this “capitalist institution”, of children – “do we need hell?” –, lesbian flirtation called dragouine, witches victims of “massive sexocide” – between 1430 and 1630, 60,000 of them were executed – or the sometimes burlesque quest for “adelphity” (solidarity between one’s peers , whether they are men, women or non-binary, editor’s note), Alex Tamécylia vigorously torpedoes the pillars of our system. More funny than violent, as poetic as political, his work is mind-blowing and awakening.
