The Association of National Students of Mbane (AEERM) is facing the threat of eviction from its accommodation. Worried about this situation, its members organized a press point this Saturday at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) to challenge the local authorities and the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Yassine Fall.
“The situation is critical. We received a formal notice last April because the owner wanted her accommodation back. Despite several meetings with her, we had not found a consensus,” explained Moussa Wade, president of AEERM.
He also specified that the municipality had been contacted without a favorable solution being provided. “We recently received a summons for January 31 to the Dakar court. This endangers the future of our members, especially since we are expecting more than 30 new high school graduates this year, without having accommodation to accommodate them,” he added.
Moussa Wade and his comrades are calling for help from the authorities of the commune of Mbane, in particular Mayor Dembèle Dembarou Sow, Minister Yassine Fall, as well as businesses established in the commune, in order to find a solution.
