“When we returned from vacation, on January 6, we had a “nice” surprise. The boss, whom we have not seen since, had removed all the production tools: no more corks, bottles, machines, cans, boxes,” express the four employees (out of six), met last Thursday, who work in this company producing artisanal rums in Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle. “We didn’t expect that since it was planned that we would place orders.”
In fact, they found themselves idle in a freezing building, “he had even taken away the heating appliances. We holed up in the break room because it's the hottest. » But what to do? “We tried to call him, he just told us to take board games to keep us busy, without any further explanation. And since then, he hasn’t responded,” they say.
It's misunderstanding. “We don’t deserve this. We always kept orders, worked overtime to get there.” According to them, they were rather satisfied with their job, “we took care of everything, the making of the rums, the bottling, the labeling, the shipping… Everything was done in an artisanal and local way, it was the brand of manufactures”. The problem was rather the relationship with the boss, Lambert Guiose: “he never told us that the company could be in difficulty. In that case, we would have understood.” Even if there were some warning signs, like “those weeks of downtime, doing nothing. In December, we were paid in two installments.”
-Right of withdrawal
And now, what future? “We couldn't leave, that would have been abandonment of post. We also think that this is what he expected, it costs less than layoffs. » They finally contacted the Labor Inspectorate which, according to them, came to make the findings on Thursday January 16 and would have encouraged them to assert their right of withdrawal. Which was achieved the next day. Without having any illusions on one point: “we would be surprised if we were paid in January”.
Contacted, Lambert Guiose, boss of the company, will not say more about the current situation, even if he believes that the action taken by the employees “is only done to harm him”. Although he admits to financial difficulties, he considers that they are “like everyone else”. According to him, the equipment is there and he calls into question the integrity of the employees and their diligence. Concerning the cold, he believes that “we have always worked like that”. Warned of the arrival of the Labor Inspectorate, he concluded: “in any case, the bosses are always guilty. I better close this box. »
