The arrest of Mor Guèye brought this man out of anonymity. Having always lived in discretion, Mor is a young resident of the commune of Nguékokh, where he completed his schooling. Known to be calm and helpful, he avoided the spotlight for a long time until a case of embezzlement of public funds propelled him to the forefront.
In the town of Nguékokh, he is little known to the general public, with the exception of his exploits on the municipal football fields, where he won several trophies with his ASC. Blessed with a magical right foot, he was an excellent midfielder, according to accounts from his acquaintances. “Mor was an extraordinary player. His size was an advantage, and his vision of the game far surpassed that of the other players. He led the neighborhood team to the top. Several times, we won the municipal cup thanks to him,” confides a relative on condition of anonymity.
At 1.77 m tall, Mor Guèye wore the captain’s armband of ASC Mbakhal Mi for several seasons before ending his football career. After obtaining his university diploma, he became a municipal agent under the supervision of Abdou Ndiaye, who offered him his first job. As an agent responsible for relations between the Treasury and the municipality, he acquired some experience. However, in 2014, with the arrival of the new team led by Pape Songo Diouf, he was sidelined.
Subsequently, Mor and deputy mayor Amdy Lô created a political movement called “Nguékokh ca Kanam”. Due to a lack of political support, the movement gradually died out as the legislative elections approached. It was then that Mor decided to ally himself with Moustapha Diop, former minister under the Macky Sall regime, by representing the Farlu coalition in the commune. During the elections, he obtained 52 votes for the coalition, thus contributing to the election of their candidate to the 15th legislature.
Born in Pikine in 1977, this slender, fair-skinned man is known for his jovial and helpful character. He completed his primary cycle at the Nguékokh 1 school (currently Khamacone Ndione), before obtaining his BFEM and continuing his studies at the Demba Diop high school in Mbour. Among his comrades at the time was Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, the current President of the Republic, although they did not hang out.
-After the legislative elections, Mor became more involved in social activities, sponsoring football matches and cultural events. This sudden popularity attracted the presidents of local associations who sought his support. But this success only lasts for a while. Accused in a case of embezzlement of public funds, he was arrested by the Research Section of the Saly gendarmerie.
According to L’As, Mor told investigators that Tabaski Ngom, Treasury inspector, gave him checks totaling 681 million FCFA. These funds, initially intended for public projects, were allegedly deposited in his companies, Sen Setal and Webcom Sen. Part of this sum, i.e. 243 million FCFA, would have been used to finance the electoral campaign of deputy mayor Moustapha Diop during the 2024 legislative elections.
For journalist Adama Gaye, this young man with the “face of an angel and the spirit of a demon” is surprising. “Nothing would have made me believe that this brilliant economist and financier would be involved in an economic crime. I met him in an oil and gas class and always encouraged him to follow the path of law. His CV impressed me. A week before my departure from Senegal, he convinced me to buy land in Nguékokh. Despite his erudition and his great university degrees, he revealed himself to be a crook. It’s incomprehensible! », wonders one of the elders of the Senegalese press on his Facebook page.
