A 36-year-old man, who had just been sentenced to eight years in prison by the Court of Appeal of Besançon, was escaped Thursday in the Jura as he returned to the Lyon Corbas remand centerannounced the Lons-Le-Saunier public prosecutor’s office on Friday.
The man, escorted by prison administration officers, had asked to “be allowed to go to the toilet”, which resulted in a “ stop at the Bois des Potets motorway area“, on the highway A36 which connects Besançon to Beaune (Côte-d'Or), explained Julie Fergane, public prosecutor of Lons-Le-Saunier, in a press release.
Violence on one, he brings down the other two
During this stop, he committed “violence on one of the agents” escorting him, before “making two” others fall and fleeing, the magistrate said.
During the afternoon, he was sentenced to eight years in prison for acts of “ menace“, “unauthorized acquisition and possession of war material« , « extortion and aggravated extortion”, committed in the Jura in 2020. He was released for criminal conspiracy.
