Swimming in the Seine this summer 2025? The sites that await us!

Swimming in the Seine? This is a subject that caused a lot of discussion during the Olympics. However, as promised by Anne Hidalgo, it will indeed be possible by this summer of 2025. We take stock of what awaits us and the different sites in where we can take a dip.

Dive in the Seine as before will soon be a reality in Paris. Because let's not forget, many people used to swim in the Seine. From thesummer 2025Paris Plage may well change its face and no longer be just beaches with misters, but also with spaces for free swimming and open to all.

3 sites monitored will welcome bathers:

  • Au Bras Marieright bank, near Sully-Morland,
  • Au Grenelle armat the height of the Bir-Hakeim bridge, and
  • HAS Bercyunder the Simone de Beauvoir Passerelle.

This project marks a historic turning point for the capital, after more than a century of prohibition, made possible by a colossal investment of 1.4 billion euros as part of the swimming plan initiated in 2015.

Swimming in the Seine, made possible during the events of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, is now open to the general public. The three sites will offer supervised spacesdelimited by buoys, and equipped with access pontoons, changing rooms, showers and storage. The water quality, significantly improved, was a priority for the authorities, allowing this return in complete safety.

These emblematic places will promise a unique experience. At Bras Mariebathers will enjoy the lively atmosphere of the Rives de Seine, already popular during Paris Plages. THE Grenelle armbetween the port of Grenelle and Île aux Cygnes, will offer a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. Finally, the site of Bercya stone's throw from the eponymous park, promises to be a refreshing spot for families and sports enthusiasts.

This renewal marks a return to a centuries-old Parisian tradition. During the Belle Époque, floating baths attracted Parisians to the river. Today, the City of Paris is reviving this relationship with the Seine while taking into account modern issues: ecology, security and cohabitation with river activities.

Whether you are a swimming enthusiast or simply looking for fresh air, these spaces promise a great summer discovery in the heart of Paris.
