Morocco and the AU Development Agency determined to strengthen their energy cooperation

This meeting was an opportunity to highlight the progress made by the Kingdom in the areas of sustainable development and energy transition and to pave the way for future consultations on regional integration and the development of the energy sector in collaboration. with African countries, Ms. Benali told the press following this interview. In this regard, she stressed the importance of developing the energy connection between African countries, citing the Morocco-Nigeria gas pipeline as a strategic project capable of promoting intra-African integration and the integrated development of the continent, noting of the Kingdom’s readiness to work with ADUA/NEPAD with a view to giving strong impetus to this dynamic.

For her part, Ms. Nardos Bekele-Thomas welcomed Morocco’s new development model, initiated under the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, calling it an example to follow for other African countries.

She also highlighted the pioneering role of the Kingdom in the sector of renewable energies and energy policies in Africa, deeming Morocco’s support important for the implementation of the Master Plan for a continental electricity system aimed at reducing the electricity deficit and to enable a balanced sharing of efficient, reliable and clean energy resources.

In this regard, the ADUA/NEPAD DG called on African countries to take advantage of the expertise and best practices accumulated by the Kingdom in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and to further strengthen exchanges between Morocco and its African partners within the framework of South-South cooperation.
