Alex Albon expects to have a very successful teammate in the person of Carlos Sainz, this year at Williams F1. According to him, the fact that the Spaniard comes from Ferrari and that he faced Charles Leclerc there will make him a formidable opponent.
“I like it, it’s a big challenge” Albon told Racer. “I think Carlos comes in with a lot of experience. I think he had a fantastic season against Charles, who is an extremely strong driver.”
“For me, it's great to have someone that I can directly compare myself to. I feel like it's always been a bit of a burden for me, in a way, because I I feel like no one really knows where I'm at. I have confidence in myself and I know I'm pretty good.”
But above all, the Thai sees his new teammate as an asset for Williams: “I'm happy that Carlos is here… What he brings to Williams will be very important for us. The experience he has, the knowledge of a top team like Ferrari which performs well week after week .”
“When I joined Williams after leaving Red Bull, it was obvious that I had a lot to give and wanted to give to improve the team. But I have been with the team for three years now.
-“And while I continue to push and steer the team in the direction I think is needed, I think having a new mindset on the team can only help. As teammate, I think I'll be very open, I just want to hear what he has to say about the car, but also the direction he thinks we need to take.”
