Every day since last Saturday, viewers have gotten to know Virginie Couet a little better, candidate and champion of the show Everyone Wants to Take Their Place, on France 2. Living in Morhange for 4 years and a farmer with her partner Laurent Oury in Bermering, this friendly forty-year-old finds herself every day in front of her television set to admire the progress made and remember this great adventure followed daily by 1.65 million viewers on average, or almost 20% audience share.
Without being able to disclose certain details of the recording, nor the exact story of her journey in the show (confidentiality clause required), Virginie is however free to talk about everything else. Starting with the “extreme sympathy” of presenter Cyril Féraud, “always smiling and available for a photo with the public and the candidates. He tried to put us at ease and it’s very pleasant because you can quickly be impressed in this world where everything is precise.”
Didn't come to be champion
Virginie confesses: “I didn't intend to win several shows. Especially since when I had my video audition last November, the reigning champion was going to pass the milestone of 100 victories in a row. At that point, my goal was to make it to the final and get a trip at most. »
Finally, fate smiled on him. The questions about Louis XIII (which she still remembers by heart) allow her to take the place of the champion (who has since become Eve, “an adorable Corsican candidate”) and to sit on the throne for a while. “There is still an element of luck in this game. If the questions had focused on sport, I would not have had this course,” smiles the one who says she is more comfortable with the themes of literature, gastronomy, nature…
Now recognized thanks to her first appearances on the show, Virginie experiences her new notoriety very humbly. The messages of sympathy sent to her on social networks touch her. “Also, former colleagues have reconnected with me, which is nice,” explains the former specialist educator from the Albi region.
-Relive the show without stress or fatigue
Her only regret, ultimately, would perhaps be having lived this crazy experience alone, far from her partner Laurent, busy with work at the 7 Storks farm in Bermering. “We raise 85 dairy cows and produce 90% of the feed for our animals (corn silage, alfalfa, grass and wheat). Recently, we have diversified into fruit juices and jams thanks to the fruit trees we have. All this work requires a presence seven days a week.”
Small consolation for Laurent, the couple planned at the end of the month to return to the recording studios at Plaine Saint-Denis, but on the public side this time. “We will be able to get a new idea behind the scenes of the show, but without the stress and fatigue,” appreciates Virginie.
