Oise: death of a 29-year-old motorcyclist after a collision with a car

A road accident with tragic consequences took place this Thursday evening on the D1016 departmental road, near the town of Rantigny, in Oise. The 29-year-old driver of a motorcycle lost his life when a car hit him in circumstances that investigations will have to determine.

It was around 7 p.m. when the tragedy occurred on this dual carriageway limited to 110 km/h in the direction of Clermont . According to the first elements collected by investigators, it seems that “the vehicle was finishing overtaking and did not see the motorcycle”, according to a source close to the case.

It was when the car moved into the right lane that it caused the collision with the motorized two-wheeler, resulting in the death of the victim.

Interviewed by the police, the driver of the vehicle was tested for alcohol and drugs. The results were not yet known this Friday noon. He is the subject of an investigation for manslaughter entrusted to the Liancourt gendarmerie brigade.

During the intervention, traffic was completely cut off in the Clermont Creil direction, causing delays. The D1016 is one of the most accident-prone roads in the department, particularly due to its heavy use. Every day, nearly 30,000 motorists use it. Accidents are common there, especially on this portion near the commune of Rantigny. But they are rarely fatal. In 2024, thirty-five people have lost their lives on the roads of Oise.
