Casablanca: Signature of a partnership for the promotion of intangible cultural heritage

A partnership agreement aimed at promoting intangible cultural heritage was signed on Thursday in Casablanca, between the regional directorate of Culture in Casablanca-Settat and the National Authority of Artisans and Craft Industry.

The said convention provides for the organization of events and activities aimed at contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage and raising awareness among younger generations of its importance, in particular through “Heritage Month” events, scheduled this year from April 18 to May 18.

This partnership also aspires to strengthen cultural tourism and support economic dynamics by encouraging local industries and arts linked to Moroccan heritage and traditions. Its further objective is to promote artistic and cultural creativity, to support cultural initiatives, and to involve the various cultural actors in the Casablanca-Settat region, in order to contribute to cultural animation.

Speaking on this occasion, the regional director of Culture in Casablanca-Settat, Hafida Khouyi, indicated that “This convention is part of the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. It reinforces the commitment of the Department of Culture and civil society in the promotion and protection of the multiple components of our rich cultural heritage.”

“This partnership provides for the implementation of various programs, including the celebration of ‘Heritage Month’, the organization of meetings, guided tours and awareness-raising actions on the importance of this heritage,” he said. she noted, in a statement.

“This day marks an exceptional moment for the Authority with the signing of a partnership that we describe as strategic. This is an innovative convention which represents a real roadmap for the future of the craft and cultural sector,” underlined, for his part, the president of the National Authority of Craftsmen and cottage industry, Aityachou Mohamed.

And added, in a similar statement, that “Crafts are intrinsically linked to culture, reflecting both a tangible and intangible heritage of inestimable richness. This collaboration paves the way for an integrated approach, where craftsmanship becomes a key vector for the promotion and preservation of our cultural identity.”

The two parties affirm that this convention will constitute a solid basis for promoting the treasures of Moroccan craftsmanship and revealing its multiple facets, while working to strengthen their partnership to multiply initiatives in this direction.
