Rennes confirmed Wednesday evening at Troyes in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France (0-1) that its level had fallen several levels since last spring and we can wonder how it will fare in L1. So far there has been no immediate effect on Jorge Sampaoli, no effect yet on Seko Fofana or Brice Samba, the first two recruits in a transfer window which must correct the previous one. Psychologically, everything seems to weigh a ton. The summer recruits know they are being singled out, but did not necessarily know that they were coming to a “reset” project which made their integration more difficult. The new ones from January must dive into a club in full doubt and the Trojan goal arrived after a missed restart from Samba, like an echo of the missed restart from Steve Mandanda in Nice (2-3, January 3).
