Whether it’s Anderlecht or Antwerp, we know how important this meeting is. Tempers were heated from the start, and after only two minutes of play, Janssens, Simic and Adryelson received a yellow card following an altercation.
Let’s go back to football. The game is lively, largely by the purple offensive players who constantly manage to put the defense in difficulty through the speed of execution. The first terrible opportunity came after only ten minutes of play. Simic threw Edozie behind the Antwerp defense. Alone face to face with Lammens, the winger tries his luck at the near post. But with an incredible save with his foot, the Antwerp goalkeeper managed to deflect the ball onto his post.
First alert, but far from being the last for Toby Alderweireld’s teammates. After a superb hook, Degreef puts Odoi on the ground and tries his luck: his shot hits the post again (15th).
We think the Mauves are cursed. And Jonas De Roeck’s team really didn’t come close to leading the score at the half-hour mark. Janssens attempts a one-step strike. Coosemans has a hole in his intervention but the ball still goes wide of the goal.
Anderlecht has a bit of success, finally, and will directly benefit from it. In the 31st minute, Edozie goes on the counter. He gets ahead of Corbanie and Odoi, before slipping the ball to Degreef who doesn’t need to be asked and logically opens the scoring for his team.
Note that shortly before half-time, Coosemans made a solid save on a shot from Janssens.
Small tile in the 47th, with the injury of Edozie, hit in the hip. He is replaced by Hazard. And the second period is much calmer. The only occasion to note, and not just any, is Degreef’s header in the 65th minute from a Hazard cross. Unfortunately for the young Brussels player, he hits Lammens’ target for the second time that evening.
Ultimately, the two teams seem to agree to keep this score. Everything will therefore be decided in Antwerp during the return match. And this, even if the Mauves now have a short advantage.

With this victory, Anderlecht therefore takes an option on qualification for the final of this Belgian Cup. Completely dominating against the Union during the quarter-finals, the Antwerp players had a completely different look this evening with very little play. Anderlecht, for its part, will have managed its subject, even if the Mauves could have scored two or three goals moreover.

90’+4 – Anderlecht takes a (small) option for the final
The Mauves won this semi-final first leg of the Belgian Cup by the smallest of scores. Antwerp had entered the match well but it was Anderlecht who took the lead thanks to a goal from Degreef in the 30th minute. The Anderlecht team will still have wasted a lot of opportunities, notably with three posts. But the Mauves managed the second period well and Coosemans was not put in danger during almost the entire match.
