Ce Thursday January 16, 2025the La Roche-sur-Yon court delivered its deliberations in the case of damage to the statue of Simone Veil, in the capital of Vendée, which occurred on March 8, 2024.

€500 fine each

THE nine defendantsof the Activists of the royalist Action Française partyaged 18 to 23, were all found guilty.

They are condemned to pay a fine of €500 each.

Let us recall that, on International Women's Rights Day, they organized a macabre scene around the statue on Place Simone-Veil, in La Roche-sur-Yon, placing baby dolls on the ground and coloring the water in blood red to simulate the murder of infants.

All while plastering anti-abortion slogans and Action Française stickers on the statue and all around. A scenography considered “shocking”, the very symbolic day of the inclusion of voluntary termination of pregnancy (IVG) in the French Constitution.

At the bar, on December 19, the students and young professionals all explained that they wanted to share their anti-abortion opinion, considering abortion as a “murder of an unborn child”.

The City will be compensated

The constitution of civil party of the City of La Roche-sur-Yon was declared admissible by the judges: the defendants are ordered to pay €4,500 to the municipality for moral damage and €184.48 for material damage . The City had pleaded significant damage to its image. On the other hand, the creation of a civil party for Family Planning was declared inadmissible.

During the trial on December 19, the public prosecutor requested a six-month suspended prison sentence against them, accompanied by a ban on civil rights and a ban on obtaining employment in the public service for five years. .

The defendants have ten days to appeal this decision.
