Revelation of OGC Nice this season, Evann Guessand, 23, sees his rating explode. Author of 8 goals in Ligue 1 and top-flight performances, the Ivorian striker attracts envy, notably those of West Ham and Tottenham.
THE Hammersfaced with injuries to Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug, could take action this winter… and pay the price!
A long-standing interest
According to the Daily MailWest Ham's interest in Guessand is not new. The Londoners have been following the player since last November, seduced by his constant performances under the Nice colors. With 9 goals and 5 assists in all competitions, the native of Ajaccio has become a pillar of Franck Haise's squad, largely contributing to the Aiglons' current fourth place in Ligue 1.
His ability to play in several attacking positions, his physical power (1.88m) and his technical agility make him an ideal recruit for the Premier League. Graham Potter, recently appointed West Ham manager, would particularly like his profile and could push for an immediate offer.
Nice ready to resist
Despite this growing interest, a winter transfer remains unlikely. Extended until 2028 last August, Guessand represents a strategic asset for Nice, engaged in the race for European qualification. Estimated at 20 million euros, his market value could even rise to 24 million, an amount that West Ham would be willing to pay for the striker.
However, the Nice leaders do not seem inclined to give up their jewel in the middle of the season, especially when he has become their offensive leader. A departure next summer seems much more plausible, provided that a substantial offer is put on the table.
In Agbadou's footsteps?
If Guessand joins England, he would follow in the footsteps of his compatriot Emmanuel Agbadou, who recently joined the Premier League for 20 million euros approximately passing from Stade de Reims to Wolverhampton. The Nice striker could therefore follow a similar path, by exporting to the English championship to continue its progress.
With Tottenham also in ambush, Evann Guessand's future seems destined to be written in England. But for now, Nice supporters can continue to enjoy the performances of the Elephant for a few months, barring an unexpected turn of events.
