A violent fire occurred this Wednesday, January 15, around 10:45 p.m., at the Guipry-Messac marina (35), near Bain-de-Bretagne. According to our information, it was the explosion of a gas cylinder on a boat which caused the fire.
The flames literally engulfed the first boat before spreading to nearby boats. In total, the fire destroyed five boats. 53 firefighters were mobilized until 4 a.m.
The owner of the boat where the gas explosion occurred is missing, according to the gendarmes. “We do not know if he was in the boat at the time of the fire or if he had left the scene before the incident.” An investigation is underway.
