Clinic Response After Simultaneous Maternal Deaths

After simultaneous maternal deaths on January 7, then an ongoing investigation, the Jnane Taddart clinic where the tragedy took place has broken its silence. Contacted by Le360, management affirms that “the autopsy report will make it possible to precisely determine the circumstances” of the facts. In figures, the private structure informs that contrary to the versions initially relayed by the media, it is “two deaths, not three”.

According to the same source, “an investigation is underway” and “a commission from the Ministry of Health, accompanied by the judicial authorities, has already been dispatched to the site”. Quoted by the media, the management also affirms that in light of the “results of the autopsy and the end of the investigation”, it will be able to communicate in detail on the case.

In the meantime, the clinic expresses its regrets, adding that “this is the first time” that it has been confronted with such a situation. “Since the clinic opened in 2023, we have performed approximately 2,752 cesarean deliveries, without recording any deaths,” she assures.

During this time, the families of the deceased remain incomprehensible, especially since the medical teams reportedly reassured one of them, even offering to “come back the next day” to inquire about the state of one of the two deceased mothers.

Following the tragedy, civil society organizations called for the truth to be known and the circumstances of the facts to be identified. Among them, the National Association for the Defense of Human Rights and the Protection of Public Funds took the matter to court, acting as a civil party.
