Geely Morocco: a new SUV and renewed ambitions in 2025

Geely Maroc has just recently unveiled the Cityray, an SUV which intends to do well in the C segment and which is banking on its many assets to convince customers.

All indicators are green for Geely Maroc at the start of 2025. The automotive subsidiary of Bamotors can boast of a good commercial record for the year 2024. “We have managed to consolidate our position as a player key to the Moroccan automobile market. In 2024, we sold 521 vehicles, which allowed us to place ourselves among the top three Chinese brands in the Kingdom,” underlined Sébastien Nicolas, General Manager of Geely Maroc during the national press conference dedicated to the launch of the Cityray. .

It must be said that the Moroccan importer of the Chinese brand was able to capitalize on the mobilization of its teams and on a range of vehicles which has gradually won over customers over the months. In addition, the brand benefits from an extensive distribution network comprising five sales points and ten service points. “Today, we see that the Geely brand is more attractive, not only for consumers, but also investors, that is to say dealers,” adds Mr. Nicolas. Geely continues to weave its web in the Kingdom. In fact, four new dealerships should be inaugurated this year. To this must be added the expansion of the range of vehicles. In addition to the Cityray, which is currently the brand’s big novelty in the Kingdom, four other new models will be added to the Geely-branded automobile platforms over the months.

A C-segment SUV

Capitalizing on its fashionable silhouette and above all well in line with Geely’s latest stylistic canons, the Cityray incorporates some cosmetic details which have contributed to the success of certain models of the brand, including the little brother Coolray, like its sporty spoiler and its double exhaust outlets. The 256 LED front lighting with its distinctive lights is a real eye-catcher, as are the bright arc taillights. The interior, too, is not to be outdone, with careful ergonomics and well-made materials.

No surprises when it comes to the interior space, which is spacious and comfortable for the occupants. They will be able to take advantage of the many technological features, including a touch screen, advanced navigation systems and connectivity for smartphones. Note that the 72-color ambient lighting adds a very special sensory dimension. There is no shortage of safety equipment, including up to six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems, such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and blind spot monitoring. . The 360° camera system and advanced collision avoidance alerts further enhance this feeling of security.

Under the hood, we find a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 174 horsepower, supported by a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Add to that four driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport and Intelligent) which adapt to all situations. Three distinct finishes are available (Comfort, Premium, Sport+); From the entry level, we have 18-inch alloy wheels, a 13.2-inch HD touch screen, and advanced safety equipment such as a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.

Unless you opt for the intermediate finish which notably receives a panoramic sunroof, a 360° panoramic camera, and assistance systems such as blind spot detector and lane change assistance. Finally, the most upscale version integrates exclusive equipment such as 19-inch rims, electric front seats with memory function for the driver, and customizable ambient lighting. With its varied equipment and distinctive finishes, the Geely Cityray is currently trading at a very competitive introductory price of 249,900 DH for the entry-level “Comfort” finish.
