Club: Mbappé without help from UEFA against PSG

Asked by the Mbappé clan to alert UEFA in its dispute with PSG, the FFF did not transmit any information to the European body, considering that the case was not yet closed at the judicial level. Good news for PSG in the short term.

Kylian Mbappé has been demanding 55.4 million euros in salary arrears and bonuses from PSG for months and although the LFP has proven him right twice, the new Real Madrid player has still not received a transfer of the part of his former employer, who justifies his position by a promise from the player to give up this sum in the event of a free departure from the club.

On January 6, L'Equipe explained that the dispute between PSG and Mbappé was likely to take a European turn and have harmful consequences for the Parisian club regarding the Champions League. The UEFA regulations “on club licensing and financial viability” requires clubs participating in European Cups not to have debts to their employees.

The FFF did not send anything to UEFA concerning the dispute between PSG and Mbappé

Every quarter, clubs participating in European Cups must send a document to UEFA certifying that they have no payment arrears. PSG had to send its last document to UEFA before January 15. Upstream, the Mbappé clan had therefore asked the FFF, which serves as an intermediary with UEFA for the granting of the “club license”, to inform the European body about its ongoing dispute with PSG.

But according to the latest information from L'Equipe, the FFF has not transmitted to UEFA any information on the famous 55.4 million euros that the Mbappé clan is claiming from PSG, considering that the file is not closed since PSG seized the judicial court last December to challenge the decisions taken in recent months by the LFP to its disadvantage.

Without an alert from the FFF, UEFA should therefore not rush to study the dispute between PSG and Mbappé, which will thus avoid any risk of sanction to the club between now and the end of the season. However, the case is not yet over and it will be the Paris court that will be the next to rule on this matter.

The Paris judicial tribunal before the industrial tribunal?

Until then, the LFP legal commission and the LFP joint commission had agreed with the player, but these commissions cannot force PSG to pay. On December 11, the LFP disciplinary committee, which had been contacted by the Mbappé clan to force PSG to pay, concluded that “the inadmissibility of the referral” due to the fact that the PSG had rightly taken the LFP before the Paris judicial court to have the two decisions of the LFP commissions annulled.

The player's clan has therefore been seeking support from the FFF and UEFA in recent weeks, but will now have to wait for the court's decision, knowing that other appeals will then be possible, notably before the industrial tribunal. PSG has been repeating for months that it is ready to find an amicable agreement with Mbappé, which the latter's entourage has so far refused. The end of the series is therefore not for now.
