Supported by Yasmina Baddou, the Istiqlalian political elite of Casablanca strengthens its associative action

Very recently, the 1era AMANI meeting in 2025 for the presentation of the new vision of the association. The NGO is thus beginning a new strategic phase in favor of disadvantaged children, marked by a renewal of its office and a significant strengthening of its leadership. In September 2024, a new office was formed with the aim of injecting new dynamism and amplifying the impact of its actions to respond to current challenges.

In this context, Yasmina Baddou, recognized for her political and associative experience, was unanimously elected president. She succeeds Younes Slaoui, the founding president, who remains involved alongside the old and new members of the current office.

The meeting saw the presence of the Casablanca political elite of the Istiqlal party, notably Ms. Naïma Ibn Yahya, Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and commerce, and Mr. Abdelatif Maazouz, President of the Council of the Casablanca–Settat Region.

Ms. Nawal El Moutawakil, Vice-President of the International Olympic Committee and Ms. Nouzha SKALLI, President of the AWAL association also attended the meeting, during which the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family highlighted the importance of associative work such as that carried out by AMANI. Various cultural, societal and economic actors from the city of Casablanca were also present.

As a reminder, since its creation in 2013 by a group of determined Casablancans, the AMANI association has worked to support children from disadvantaged backgrounds in their educational journey. The association’s mission is to offer these children the tools necessary for their autonomy, from a young age until their integration into the job market. It also pursues a broader objective: that of breaking the social isolation of children and their families by offering them quality education, cultural and sporting activities, as well as solidarity initiatives.

Today and under the supervision of Me. Yasmina Baddou, “AMANI continues its objective of breaking the isolation of children and their families while promoting their academic and personal success. The leadership of the association is based on an intergenerational approach, encouraging solidarity and mutual support between children, families and volunteers,” said the NGO, while noting that in addition to its action in level of Casablanca, AMANI established a partnership in 2017 with the Akhiam association, an NGO which operates in the Imilchil region, mainly with girls, through a literacy program, support and educational support, social and psychological aspects of low-level students. It also equips libraries and multimedia rooms. Its main objective is to fight against rural girls dropping out of school.

Does this mean that the political strategy of Nizar Baraka’s friends in Casablanca begins with the associative! In any case, it seems that the Isqlaliens do not want to leave the field open to competition, and that the association remains a niche not to be neglected in order to impose itself electorally!
