Weather: we know why Morocco is affected by a cold wave

Houcine Youabed, head of the communications department at the General Directorate of Meteorology, declared that the cold wave currently affecting Morocco is caused by the extension of an atmospheric depression centered on the Mediterranean basin, accompanied by masses of cold and polar air.

Contacted by Le Site info, Youabed explained that this depression causes infiltration of cold air towards North Africa, leading to an influx of cold air into the Kingdom, which causes a significant drop in temperatures.

Remember that cold weather with temperatures varying between -08 and 09°C is expected until next Friday, in several provinces of the Kingdom, indicated the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).

Thus, minimum temperatures oscillating between -08 and -02°C and maximums between 00 and 06°C will be recorded in the provinces of Ifrane, Boulemane, Sefrou, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Al Haouz, Figuig, Chichaoua, Tinghir , Ouarzazate, Midelt and Taroudant, underlines the DGM in an orange vigilance level alert bulletin.
