Nightmare in the kitchen, Philippe Etchebest was unable to do anything: they never paid their rent, restaurateurs owe 60,000 euros to their owners

On TV last March, this couple of restaurateurs moved the whole of France, according to the expression used by our colleagues from Ici Périgord. But in real life, their notable appearance on the show Nightmare in the kitchen and the coming of Philippe Etchebest made people cringe.

And for good reason, Mr. and Mrs. Baietto, managers of the restaurant “Le cygne de l'spérance” in Allas-les-Mines (Dordogne) have almost never paid their rent to the owners of the premises.

Silence radio

The procedure has been going on since February 2023. Almost a year later, the Bergerac court delivered its verdict: “The lease had to be terminated, the occupants had to leave the premises within two months, and above all, they had to pay a sum of more than 23,000 euros”write our colleagues.

But the Baiettos appealed, buying time… Until the judgment. In November, the courts this time ordered them to pay 60,000 euros in compensation to the owners and to leave the premises.

Since then, it has been radio silence. The Baiettos no longer gave any signs of life and seem to have left.

Opposite, the owners – a retired couple – are struggling to make ends meet: “We are completely helpless, we will soon be on the street since we have nothing left. I had to borrow money from the bank, I took out a loan of 27,000 euros to survive.”
