Ialways said he wasn't a thug. He did not want to hide or leave Corsica. He didn't want to show that he was afraid.” Those close to Jean-Christophe Mocchi are unanimous on the state of mind in which the latter found himself during the year 2022.
However, between June 2021 and June 2022, this business leader, consular judge at the Ajaccio commercial court, was the target of several criminal acts until his assassination on June 24, 2022 in Propriano. His father, Émile Mocchi, was the mayor of this town from 1971 to 2001 and his family, in the broad sense, is comfortably anchored in the Sartenais-Valinco region where it is well established.
The first intimidations against Jean-Christophe Mocchi targeted his property. The Genoese Micalona tower which he owns, firstly erected above the sea in the town of Olmeto, was the target of an arson attack in February 2019. Then, in June 2021, two of his businesses suffered damage: the Gedimat store in Sartène and its real estate agency in Propriano. These malicious acts are the subject of separate investigations which, to date, have not been judicially resolved.

Also in 2021, Jean-Christophe Mocchi was targeted by an attempted homicide on October 8 in Olmeto, while he was returning to his home on the handlebars of a scooter. Seriously injured, he was airlifted to Ajaccio hospital. An investigation is opened by the Ajaccian public prosecutor's office.
