Two days of avalanche rescue training for the general public in Val d’Allos

SAFETY / Although practitioners are often equipped with the appropriate equipment, mountain professionals still too often observe a lack of knowledge of its use

If during an off-piste mountain outing, the triptych avalanche victim detector, probe and shovel is essential, you also need to know how to use it. Mountain professionals too often see practitioners who equip themselves with safety equipment, but who do not always know how to use it properly. Professionals regret this material which is sometimes of poor quality.

90% chance of survival with rescue within 18 minutes

On January 24 and February 8, two days of avalanche rescue training will be offered at Val d'Allos, in partnership with ANENA, the National Association for the Study of Snow and Avalanches. They are intended for the general public.

A buried person has a 90% chance of survival if rescued within 18 minutes. A curve that drops drastically after this time. Precious time that you have to know how to use, while managing stress, hence these training courses, underlines Romain Luigi, mountain professional and trainer within ANENA.

“You have to know how to use the equipment, but you also have to know how to organize yourself if it ever happens,” R. Luigi
