The Stellantis group has finalized the acquisition of Sopriam

The group, born from the merger between Peugeot-Citroën and Fiat-Chrysler, is consolidating its position on the Moroccan market where it already has a factory in the Kénitra region. In a press release, he claims to have finalized the acquisition of Sopriam, a subsidiary of the Al-Mada group.

From its headquarters based in the Netherlands, the automobile manufacturer Stellantis NV announced Monday, January 13, that it had finalized the acquisition of the Société de promotion industrial automobile au Maroc (Sopriam), a former subsidiary of the Al Mada group. Born from the merger between the French groups PSA and the Italian-American Fiat Chrysler, this company acquired the remaining 49% of Sopriam. The amount of the transaction was not communicated.

Started in 2024, the acquisition of Sopriam took place in two phases: an immediate majority takeover, followed by the repurchase of all the shares at the start of 2025. This allows Stellantis to take charge the importation and distribution in Morocco of the Peugeot, Citroën and DS Automobiles brands, of which Sopriam is the sole distributor in the Kingdom.
