And this figure could easily be higher for larger companies with a greater volume of RFPs. Here are some results of the ninth edition of the QorusDocs annual proposal management benchmark survey: An industry snapshot to fuel success in 2025. Report finds that generative AI-driven productivity is a driving force for proposal and business development teams, helping teams achieve productivity gains of more than 50% while increasing win rates of contracts.

Business development teams had a productive 2024
In 2024, an upward trend has been observed in the business landscape. More than half of study respondents noted an increase in the volume of presentations and requests for proposals compared to the previous year, with the average opportunity amount linked to requests for proposals less than $1M.

Most respondents reported experiencing an increase in new contract rates in 2024 compared to the previous year, with a median of 37%. The report reveals that proposal specialists work on an average of seven RFPs per month, with the majority reporting between one and nine per month. In 2024, half of respondents said 10 or fewer people contributed directly to the response process, with a median of eight. Proposal teams face increasingly short turnaround times, delivering an RFP response in 9.3 days, on average.

Generative AI is a critical business capability
Generative AI is the key to achieving productivity and revenue gains by increasing operational efficiency, reducing labor costs, and personalizing the customer experience to strengthen loyalty and to encourage recurring business. Companies produce reports using generative AI for common tasks such as: researching and summarizing information (46%), writing descriptions (36%), summaries (36%) and biographies (28%) ), answer questions in an RFP (34%) and ensure quality (14%).

The benefits of generative AI
When asked about the benefits of AI for businesses as 2025 approaches, respondents cited rapid writing and optimization of content (84%), more time for personalization (60 %), better use of staff time (56%), simplification of content management (40%), response verification and risk reporting (36%), increased response volume (34% ) and an increase in rates of obtaining contracts and income (32%).

Preferred tools for creating proposals
To generate answers, 93% of respondents prefer the Microsoft suite of products, particularly Microsoft Word (54%), followed by PowerPoint (27%) and Excel (12%).
